Was chatting up with couple of friends after getting back to Syd these two days, and they were all interested in reading a travel blog of some sort documenting my recent middle east trip. Ok, since it could be helpful to some of you, especially for solo female traveller, I hope my attempt in writing up a travel blog (for the first time) won't be toooo dodgy hehe.
Getting held up in SYD airport wasn't pleasing, after all you can only wait until the plane arrives. Yes, it was delayed for half and hour or so, well it wasn't that bad, but I just personally hate things that are LATE. Anyway, Emirate plane is also scented, and seats are quite roomy, so no more complaints from here.
Lonely planet was my best friend on the plane, I basically chewed up the whole book, book marking, highlighting, doing some last minute research before landing my foot in Middle East. But lonely planet seriously need some updates, as I found numbers of mistakes in its contents which I will mention later in my blog.
On this long flight, there were some nice touch such as the do not disturb stickers that you can adhere to your seat, the starlight ceiling etc.
After a long long 22 hours flight transferring in BKK and Dubai, I finally arrived in the most foreign place Jordan. This is the country being sandwiched in the middle of the current most dangerous coutries i.e. Israel, Syria and Iraq. Yep, right in the middle! But because it has no oil, I guess it makes Jordan the safest out of all.
To save hassles, I've pre-booked the transfer with Movenpick to pick me up from airport to the resort. It was 45JD, which wasn't that bad, afterall you don't need to worry about negotiating with taxi driver and keeping an eye out for the route.
It took around half an hour or so before arriving at Movenpick Dead Sea Resort, not many exciting or breath taking scenery on its way apart from some yellowy lowrise and lots of hills and I mean lots!
Checking in was fast, and I can't explained how excited I was when I got the key to my room, I was dying to drop all my stuff down, get changed and run down to dead sea for a float.
The room was in decent size, enough for one person, cleaniness soso, but view was good as I got a glimpse of the deadsea. Aircon was also running, and you get free mini bar as well.
Sleeping Room ratings (five circles the best):
size for 1 person - OOOOO
cleaniness - OOO
price - OOOO
facilities - OOOO

Hello Munmun, =p
ReplyDeleteWow Movenpick! Must be a nice hotel! Your room is soo pretty!!!! I start to get excited while reading your blog!!
It's soo good that you read Lonely Planet. You know I always felt asleep when reading it in the plane...too many words. I like travel books with pictures. Like the eyewitness. But indeed its definitely not as informative as Lonely Planet. May be I am still a kid...like picture books. hahahaa!
hi mok mok,
Deleteyes movenpick is an old but very nice hotel and it's got an oriental flair to it.
in terms of lonely planet, how can I put it, hmmm it's got maps and useful info in it, that's why I bought it. But personally I like picture books too, because they do make reading more interesting haha
